Zombie of the Week is a series of regularly scheduled posts that each feature photos of one of the zombie miniatures that I have painted.
For the h-e-double-hockey-sticks of it, I am using it as an opportunity to name each of the zombies and give them a tiny bit of backstory. I have a lot of zombie figures painted (over 100 at the time of writing and with plenty more on the way) so I imagine that it should be a regular feature for quite a while.
As my zombie figures have been painted over a long period (eleven years and counting) the methods and styles of painting vary quite a lot. Similarly, the figures used tend to be grouped together into old GW metals, GW plastics etc, depending on the bits that I had access to at the time. The year tags group the batches together, mainly into two eras: 1998 and 2003.
1998 zombies were painted for use in Necromunda games. The miniatures used were old GW metal fantasy miniatures, plus a handful of actual Necromunda zombies.
2003 zombies were painted to expand the collection for use in Heroclix scenarios. These zombies were put together from parts left over from various GW plastic kits mainly. They were painted faster and under time pressure and so they are of a lower standard than the 1998 guys.
There are zombie miniatures from other sources too, mainly from board games like Last Night on Earth and Mutant Chronicles: Siege of the Citadel. At the time of writing I am painting up more zombies so there should be a few more sources than 1998 and 2003 by the time that you read this.
